Library Director

Laura became the Library Director in January 2011, after two years as the Assistant Director/Children’s Librarian.  Originally from Illinois, she moved to New Hampshire in 2005, after her husband was offered a job here.  She holds a BA (English/Creative Writing) from Dominican University, and a MSLS from Clarion University.  When she’s not at work, you’ll find her in her garden.  Favorite books:  Non-fiction on gardening, homesteading and simple living, and fiction authors Louise Penny, Chris Bohjalian, and Louise Erdrich.

A Bethlehem native, Rebecca graduated from Profile High School, then ventured to Vassar College to study animation. Following a stint as a freelance animator in New York, she received an MFA in film production from USC, and spent the next decade working in movies and TV. She returned to the White Mountains region with her family in the spring of 2025, and joined the library soon after. In her spare time, Rebecca eagerly consumes literary classics, sci-fi adventures, fantasy, mystery, and anything else that comes highly recommended. She also enjoys building furniture, making art, playing guitar and video games, and reading to her book-obsessed daughter.

Kami joined the staff in 2022.  She was born in New Hampshire, considers the White Mountains the place that speaks to her soul, and was thrilled to return to the area full time in 2013. Prior to her return home, she spent summers in the White Mountains with her large family that has very deep roots in the area. She studied liberal arts in the southeastern United States, and is excited to now be focusing on adding more Early Childhood Education and Literacy courses to her degree.  Previously, she worked at various Children’s museums and was the manager of the Children’s Department of a nationwide bookstore. When she is not at the Library, she is reading, singing, listening to music, in the woods, at the lake, gardening, playing with her Australian Shepherd, and/or also spending time with her Cats, Husband, and Toddler.

A person with short, curly hair and glasses smiles at the camera. They are wearing a denim jacket and a necklace, with a cozy, well-lit room and bookshelves in the background.

Library Clerk

Paige joined the library in 2024. Paige has a Bachelors in Creative Writing and English studies and works full time in social services. The library is her fun job! When she is not working she is reading a book, kayaking or going on adventures with her 5 year old son. Paige’s favorite genre is fantasy but will devour any book that speaks to her or has a strong-willed female protagonist. Paige grew up in Whitefield and left for several years before returning in 2020.

A smiling woman with short brown hair, glasses, and a blue shirt sits in an orange patterned chair in a library, with shelves of childrens books in the background.

Lisa Stolte

Library Clerk

A long-time patron, Lisa joined the library in the fall of 2021. She has lived in Bethlehem for 25 years, longer than any place else.   Both her father and husband were in the USAF, so she’s lived in California, Michigan, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Germany.   But she has strong ties to New England; both parents were raised in Vermont.  Prior to the library, Lisa worked at Dana Jewelry in Littleton for 21 years.  She has always loved to read and getting a library card was one of the first things she did upon moving here.  Her favorite books include romances, mysteries, and fantasy.

An older woman with short gray hair and gold hoop earrings smiles slightly, wearing a patterned jacket. She is indoors near a red poinsettia plant and a framed picture of a snowy forest on the wall behind her.

Reading is not a pastime for Cheryl, more of an omnivorous addiction and passion. After a 24 year career as a financial manager, Cheryl and her husband retired to the North Country from Delaware in 2004. Then in 2009, her dream job became available at the Bethlehem Public Library. Cheryl was the Library Clerk, and then Assistant Library Director, from 2009-2014.  Being a part of planning, building and furnishing the new library was a joy. Cheryl retired in 2014 to allow time for travel. Cheryl keeps coming back each week to help out in cataloging and collection maintenance. Don’t hesitate to ask her to find something special you may need.
